The city's Serie A club plays at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, on the lakefront a short walk from Como's centre — one of the few top-flight grounds in Europe you can walk to from a ferry. Tickets are sold through the club's own portal and are nominative, so bring the ID you booked with.

The chapel above Bellagio is the patron shrine of cyclists and the museum next door holds Coppi's and Bartali's bikes, pink and yellow jerseys and a film archive across three floors. Ride up from Bellagio or Asso; if you drive, the road is the same one the Giro di Lombardia uses.

A 1.7km wall of a climb above Sormano with gradients into the twenties and the metres painted on the tarmac, restored for Il Lombardia. It is closed to cars for much of its length and is the hardest thing most cyclists will do on this lake.

Cantù is one of Italian basketball's historic names and is back in the top division, playing at the PalaDesio in Desio about half an hour south of Como by train and bus. Tickets run roughly €19–€38 depending on tier, reduced for under-14s and over-70s, and all tickets are nominative.

The lake's reliable thermals sit at the top end around Domaso, Gera Lario and Colico, where the breva blows up-lake through the afternoon; the southern arms are largely windless. Schools and board hire cluster on that stretch and the season runs roughly May to September.
