Main Street venue with several rooms under one roof: Sliabh Luachra trad in the front bar early on, a live band later, a piano bar with cabaret and a nightclub at the back. The usual pattern is free trad first, a charge once the band starts.

Narrow family-run pub on Plunkett Street, licensed since the late 1800s, with a protected shopfront, bare wood and a fire. Known for its whiskey and craft beer lists — they will pour you three small glasses if you cannot decide.

Small pub on High Street running trad sessions most nights in season. It fills early and there is very little standing room, so get in before the music starts if you want to sit down.

Music bar attached to the Eviston House Hotel on New Street, with live bands and trad through the tourist season. Central and dependable rather than atmospheric, and a reasonable fallback when the smaller pubs are full.

Standard Irish licensing applies: last orders 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 12.30am Friday and Saturday, with a handful of late bars running to around 2am. Out of season several music pubs cut back to weekends only, so do not count on a Tuesday session in February.
