A signposted loop west from Dingle on the R559, driven clockwise so you stay on the sea side of a road that is single-track in places. Passes the Fahan beehive huts and Coumeenoole beach; allow around three hours with stops, longer by bike.

OPW centre 16km west of Dingle on the R559 telling the story of the Great Blasket community, evacuated in 1953, and the books its islanders wrote. Open 6 March–8 November, 10am–6pm daily, last admission 5.15pm; €5 adult, €3 student, under-12s free. There is a clifftop viewing platform over the islands.

A dry-stone corbelled chapel near Ballydavid, shaped like an upturned boat and still weathertight after roughly a thousand years. A privately run visitor centre beside it charges for parking; the building itself takes ten minutes to look at.

Working distillery on the edge of town making whiskey, gin and vodka. Tours walk the production floor and finish with a tasting of the spirits; book ahead through the site or by email rather than turning up on spec.

The road north out of Dingle towards Brandon Bay climbs to one of the highest drivable passes in Ireland, with a car park at the top and a short walk up to a corrie lake. Narrow, with passing places, unsuitable for large vehicles, and pointless in fog.
