Trad pub on Coburg Street, a couple of minutes over the river from MacCurtain Street. Sessions run most evenings and the long-standing Sunday afternoon one is the busiest; the room is small, so arrive before the musicians do if you want a seat.

Live music bar on Douglas Street, south of the centre, and a former IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year. Original singer-songwriter and roots bills in a back room that holds barely a hundred, with a beer garden attached.

Brewpub on North Mall with its own beers on tap and a long covered yard behind it — one of the few reliable outdoor drinking spots in a city where it rains.

Large multi-room pub on Oliver Plunkett Street with live music most nights, mostly covers and trad rather than original acts. It is the default first stop for groups and fills from about 9pm.
