Gili Meno
The smallest and quietest island, with the shallowest, calmest water of the three and a salt lake in the middle. Any age.
Turtles off Gili Air
Green turtles feed on the seagrass a short swim from the east-coast beach; shore snorkelling with a guide avoids the current. Ages 6+.
Turtle hatchery pens
Small volunteer-run sanctuaries on Trawangan and Meno keep hatchlings in tanks until they are big enough to release. Ten minutes, free or donation. Ages 3+.
The Trawangan bike loop
A flat circuit of roughly seven kilometres round the island, sandy in places, with swimming stops the whole way. Ages 5+.
No cars, no hospital
There are clinics but no hospital — Lombok is twenty minutes by fast boat and Bali two hours. Currents between the islands are strong. Bring cash.
