Canggu and Kuta
Party hostels cluster around Batu Bolong and Berawa in Canggu; Kuta and Legian are cheaper again and closer to the airport. Ubud is quieter and slower.
What a day costs
Dorm 100,000–250,000 IDR, warung food 50,000–150,000 IDR, scooter 70,000–100,000 IDR a day. Around 250,000–500,000 IDR, roughly 16–31 USD.
Getting around cheap
A scooter is the default — bring an international permit and a helmet. Gojek and Grab work outside the zones local drivers protect, and Perama shuttles link the tourist towns.

The Campuhan Ridge Walk above Ubud at sunrise, sunset on Echo Beach at Canggu, and the black-sand stretch north of Seminyak.
