Amber Fort

Jantar Mantar
An open courtyard of giant stone astronomical instruments, including a sundial the height of a house. Children climb the steps; the science lands from about seven.
Albert Hall Museum
A grand colonial museum in Ram Niwas garden with armour, puppets and an Egyptian mummy that reliably fixes short attention spans. Good for ages six upwards.
Chokhi Dhani
A mock Rajasthani village on the southern edge of town with puppet shows, camel rides, acrobats and a thali dinner. Aimed at ages four to twelve.
Heat, water and car seats
April to June regularly passes 40C — sightsee from six until eleven, then retreat to a pool. Bottled or filtered water only; hire cars rarely carry child seats.
