Ísafjörður has a handful of bars and Patreksfjörður one or two. Beyond those the region has no nightlife whatsoever, and the state Vínbúðin shuts at six on weekdays and does not open on Sundays. Buy in advance or go without.

Hellulaug at Flókalundur, Reykjafjarðarlaug further up the fjord, Pollurinn above Tálknafjörður: free or nearly free, unstaffed, open all night, and better after dark than any bar in the region.

There is essentially no light pollution here at all. September to April, from wherever you have parked. The trade-off is that half the passes are shut and the day is four hours long.

Late June at Látrabjarg, with the sun sitting on the sea to the north-west and puffins still coming in at one in the morning. The best hour anywhere in the Westfjords.

The town has enough of a scene to run a music festival at Easter and a swamp football tournament in summer. Both are worth planning a trip around; an ordinary Tuesday is not.
