FIESTA SIDE
Where Snæfellsnes goes after dark — bars, live music and the late ones worth staying up for.

Two towns, a bar each
Stykkishólmur and Grundarfjörður have one bar apiece and a restaurant or two. Nothing on the peninsula runs past midnight. The Vínbúðin in Stykkishólmur is your other option and it shuts at six.
Aurora behind Kirkjufell
The photograph everyone has seen, and the reason the Grundarfjörður guesthouses stay open in February. September to April, clear sky, looking north.
Lýsuhólslaug
A small pool of green mineral water, algae and all, on the south side of the peninsula. Summer opening only and short hours — ring before you drive out for it.
Midnight sun at Djúpalónssandur
In June the sun drops into the sea north-west of the peninsula and barely goes under. Late evening on the black pebbles is the best hour of the day here.
Stykkishólmur harbour
The town punches well above its size for food, and a couple of places stay open when the boats are in. That is the full extent of it, and it is enough.
