The farm rents horses and runs guided rides across its own land and out towards Brúarfoss. The breed has been kept isolated for a thousand years and has two extra gaits, the tölt and the flying pace, which is the point of getting on one. Book through the farm; helmets are provided.

The tomato farm also keeps around forty Icelandic horses and runs a stable show explaining the breed and its gaits, narrated in fourteen languages. It is short, indoors and works well with children. Group visits must be pre-booked.

The river below Gullfoss is the country's main rafting water. Arctic Rafting's River Fun trip is the standard one, launched from the Drumboddsstaðir base an hour and a half from Reykjavik; there are also tandem kayak and canoe trips on the same stretch. Summer only.

Into the Glacier drives a man-made tunnel system into Iceland's second largest icecap, reached from Klaki base camp or Húsafell. The tunnel tour starts around 24,900 ISK, the tunnel-plus-snowmobile combination around 38,900 ISK, and a pick-up from Reykjavik pushes it past 38,990 ISK.

Nothing on the Golden Circle plays in the Besta deild karla; the 2026 top flight is twelve clubs, four of them in Reykjavik, and Selfoss is not among them. What Selfoss does have is Svarfhólsvöllur, an 18-hole par 69 course on the bank of the Ölfusá, about 35 minutes from the capital and playable through the light summer nights.
