Akureyri has an actual night out
Ráðhústorg and the streets around it hold a dozen bars, and on a Friday the town behaves like a much larger one. It is the only place north of Reykjavik where that is true.

Aurora over Eyjafjörður
The north is drier than the south and the cloud clears more often. September to April, five minutes out of town in any direction you like.
Forest Lagoon at midnight
Open until midnight every day of the year, with the fjord in front and, in season, the aurora above it. 7,490 ISK for the standard ticket.

Midnight sun on Grímsey
North of the Arctic Circle in late June the sun does not set at all. The island is the only place in Iceland where you can say that literally rather than loosely.
Sundlaug Akureyrar
The town pool has slides, hot pots and a steam room and stays open late. It is the real social centre of the north and costs a fraction of any spa.
