SPORT & SEASON
Pecs is a basketball city with a rally habit: the best team in town is the women's basketball side, and the men's football is third tier.

NKA Universitas Pecs
The city's women's basketball club and the reigning Hungarian champions, having taken the 2025/26 title with a squad of Hungarian and academy-trained players. Home games are in Pecs and tickets are not hard to come by.
PVSK-Veolia at the Lauber Dezso hall
The men's basketball side plays in the second tier, NB I/B Piros, at the Lauber Dezso municipal sports hall on Dr. Veres Endre utca 10 — a 2,791-seat arena west of the centre.
PMFC, and the football reality
The men's team plays in NB III, the third tier, in the south-western group, off Stadion utca; the club's women's side is the one in a top division, the Noi NB I. There is no top-flight men's football in Pecs and the nearest NB I club is Paks, up towards the Danube.
Mecsek Rallye
One of the longest-running fixtures in Hungarian motorsport: the 59th edition ran on 12 and 13 June 2026 on closed roads in the hills above the city. Expect road closures across the Mecsek that weekend, and walk in early if you want a stage.
Running and riding the Mecsek
The hills begin where the streets end: marked trails run north from Tettye and along the TV tower ridge into woods, caves and lakes, and the city's own pages point at the Baranya naturalists' route maps rather than pretending to be one.
