Lake Balaton · With kids

The town's main paid beach, with two playgrounds, water slides, sports courts, equipment hire, lifeguards and a baby-changing room. Adults 2,200 Ft, children and students 1,400 Ft; open 08:00–19:00 in the main season.

Water park on the edge of Balatonfüred with slides ranging from gentle to the Kamikaze, wave pools and shallow areas for smaller children. It is a summer-season operation, so check the opening dates and hours before you build a day around it.

Two rail-mounted bob tracks totalling 1.5 km, one with a 360-degree bend and one with a lit tunnel, running at about 40 km/h with harnesses and automatic brakes. A run is 1,499 Ft for adults and 1,299 Ft for children; the playground, lookout tower and fitness park alongside are free, 09:30–18:00.

Ten minutes across the narrowest point of the lake on BAHART's car ferry, standing on the open deck, with departures from around 07:00. Cheap entertainment, and it doubles as transport between the shores.

The south side shelves so gently that you can wade a long way out and still be at knee or waist height, which is why Hungarian families with toddlers head there. The north shore drops away much faster.
