SPORT & SEASON
Winter is the sporting season here — Feldberg's lifts, the cross-country tracks and a World Cup ski jump at Titisee-Neustadt — while the region's only top-flight club, SC Freiburg, plays down on the flat at the western foot of the hills.

SC Freiburg at the Europa-Park Stadion
The region's only Bundesliga club, in the top flight for 2026/27, playing in the stadium on the north-west edge of Freiburg. Home and away tickets, season passes, inclusive tickets for disabled supporters and a club-run resale market all go through the official site, which also sells for the women's Bundesliga team.
Skiing the Feldberg
The biggest ski area in the Black Forest: five chairlifts, seven tow lifts and three conveyors serving 16 runs over 24 km of piste, with a shared pass covering more than 50 lifts across the neighbouring resorts. The Feldbergbahn also runs in summer for walkers heading up to the Feldbergturm.
FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, Hochfirstschanze
Titisee-Neustadt's large hill is on the provisional FIS calendar for December 2026. Tickets are sold through the DSV ticket shop, with the town's own Weltcup office at Pfauenstraße 2 handling local arrangements. It is the one weekend a year the town is genuinely full, so book beds early.
Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon, Kirchzarten
A mass-participation mountain bike race starting in Kirchzarten, a short hop from Freiburg on the Höllental railway. The 2026 edition drew around 2,400 riders across four routes plus roughly 600 in the gravel event, alongside UCI World Cup races, Bambini and kids' races and pop-up camping. Next edition 23 to 25 July 2027.
Galopprennbahn Iffezheim
Flat racing on the plain outside Baden-Baden, and home of the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden over 2,400 m in early September. Meetings are built around a supporting programme with children's areas and food stands rather than being purely for punters, so it works as a family afternoon.
