Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse
Fifty-five traders under one roof — cheese, charcuterie, oysters — with counters and wine bars for eating on the spot. Open seven days.
Parc de la Tête d'Or
105 hectares with a 17-hectare lake, a free zoo and France's largest botanical collection at some 20,000 species. Open 6.30am-8.30pm, later mid-April to mid-October. Free.
Musée des Beaux-Arts
A former abbey on Place des Terreaux holding one of the largest fine art collections in France outside Paris.
Croix-Rousse silk quarter
The hill was built for canut silk weavers and their tall workshops; roughly 160 of the city's traboules survive on its slopes.
Confluence
Reclaimed docks at the tip of the peninsula, now a run of coloured contemporary buildings and a long waterfront walk.
