Two ice hockey clubs sharing one new arena, which is as close to a religion as Finland gets.
Nokia Arena
Tappara and Ilves both play Liiga here from September to April. The derby between them is the loudest ticket in Finnish sport; book well ahead.
Tammela Stadion
Ilves play Veikkausliiga football from April to October at a compact new ground in the middle of a residential block. Standing tickets are cheap.
Pesäpallo, Finnish baseball
Finnish baseball, played on a fan-shaped field with vertical pitching, runs May to August. Tickets cost a few euros and the rules make sense eventually.
Lake swimming and ice holes
Rauhaniemi and Kaupinoja run public saunas with open water year-round, including a cut hole in the ice through the winter months.
