The things worth doing in Tartu, from the obvious landmarks to the ones locals actually rate.
Upside Down House
A fully inverted house on Roosi street. Silly, photogenic, and about half an hour of your day.
University of Tartu Museum
In the cathedral ruins on the hill: the white hall, the student lock-up and a tower walk over town.
Botanical Garden
A two-century-old university garden by the river, whose palm houses are a genuine refuge in winter.
TYPA print and paper centre
A working letterpress and papermaking museum in an old boot factory, with hands-on workshops.
Emajõgi riverbank
The river path and summer boats are where the city relaxes; in winter the same bank is a ski trail.
