The restaurant cluster, such as it is — a ten-minute stretch between the station and the castle. Restaurant M. Chagall at Puškini 6, inside Hotel Narva, is the dependable sit-down option: Italian-leaning, 07:00–22:00 on weekdays and later at weekends, terrace in season, kids' menu.

Georgian cooking at Võidu prospekt 1, open from noon: to 23:00 Monday to Thursday, to 02:00 on Friday and Saturday, to 22:00 on Sunday. That late licence makes it one of the few kitchens still serving after most of Narva has shut. Free parking; no website, only Facebook.

Puškini 28, open from 06:30 on weekdays and 07:00 at weekends until 20:00. Salads, snacks, hot dishes and cakes, eighty seats and food to go — and the earliest breakfast in the city if you have come in on the first train from Tallinn.

The two shopping centres are where the city eats day to day: food courts, chains, bakeries and cafés, with a cinema and bowling at Astri. Not a culinary experience, but open when everything else is closed and genuinely useful with children.
