Ecuador's three-a-side volleyball, played with a heavy ball over a very high net, fills the municipal courts every evening and is free to watch.

Tongo Reef and Punta Carola work on the northern swell, roughly December to March; boards rent in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and sea lions share the line-up.

The town festivals bring boat races, open-water swims across the bays and football tournaments; most fall in the first half of the year — ask at the municipality.
Serie A on the mainland
Ecuador's professional football is a two-hour flight away. The season runs February to December in two stages, with Barcelona SC and LDU Quito the biggest draws.
