Acuario Nacional
A modest aquarium on the eastern seafront with a walk-through tunnel and manatees. Half a morning, and rarely crowded on weekdays. Ages 3 and up.
Los Tres Ojos
Three collapsed limestone caverns holding still green lagoons, linked by steps and a hand-hauled raft. Cool underground on a hot day. Ages 5 and up.
Museo Infantil Trampolín
A hands-on science and nature museum inside a colonial house in the Zona, built around earthquakes, water and the island's ecology. Ages 4 to 11.
Parque Zoológico Nacional
A large, green, shaded zoo north of the centre with a road train doing the loop, which spares small legs. Ages 2 and up.
Cobbles beat pushchairs
The Zona's stones and high kerbs punish wheels — a carrier works better. Keep children out of the sun between midday and four, and eat early on the Malecón.
