Show-club in the Centro Comercial Downtown Punta Cana on Carretera Barceló, run by the same company as the Cancún original. The ticket buys a seat at a running show — Spider-Man aerial acrobatics, KISS and Michael Jackson tribute sets — with drinks included; book a date on their site or by phone (+1 809-466-1111).

A club built inside a natural cave, running Saturday nights until 02:00. Tickets come as open bar, premium open bar or a VIP table, minimum age is 18, and they run optional pickups from three of the hotel zones — worth taking, because the site is off the main road.

The public stretch of Playa Bávaro, where the beach bars and the merengue and bachata are open to anyone rather than to wristband holders. It is the cheapest night out on this coast and the only one you can walk to if you are staying in Bávaro rather than Cap Cana.

The seafront marina south of the airport, with waterside restaurants and lounges rather than clubs — the tourism board's "chic evenings under the stars" end of the market. Quiet, expensive, and the antidote to a resort disco.

Most Punta Cana nightlife is the resort's own show and disco, already paid for by the all-inclusive band. Anything outside means a taxi both ways, and taxis here are unmetered and priced by zone — agree the fare before you get in, and check when your hotel's shuttle stops running, because it is usually before the clubs close.
