A partly underground museum built around the storyteller's birthplace, theatrical rather than text-heavy. Works from about five; the children's house next door from two.

Compact and well regarded, with manatees, an oceanium and a river frontage. Two to three hours, and reachable on foot along the water.

Small boats run up the river from Munke Mose to Fruens Bøge in summer, about half an hour each way, with a walk back through the woods.

Half an hour south: a moated castle with a treetop walkway, a bamboo maze, veteran cars and a large adventure playground. A full day, ages four upwards.

Cargo bikes and trailers rent centrally, the lanes are flat and separated, and up to two children under twelve travel free with a paying adult.
