ARoS Allé 2, ten floors topped by Olafur Eliasson's circular, colour-glazed Your Rainbow Panorama from 2011. Mon-Fri 09:00-20:00 and Sat-Sun 09:00-17:00, which makes it one of the few museums you can genuinely do after work.

Open-air town museum built from relocated buildings and staged as four periods: the half-timbered town up to 1864, the 1900-1927 city, a 1950-1974 welfare-era street and a 2000-2014 section complete with a Blockbuster. Allow at least half a day.

Moesgård Allé 15 in Højbjerg, about 15 km south of the centre, covering prehistory through the Middle Ages; the Iron Age gallery holds the Grauballe Man bog body. Opens 10:00, and the sloping grass roof is walkable.

Hack Kampmanns Plads 2 on the harbour: public library, citizens' service desk and a great deal of seating with water views. Free to walk into, and a sound place to sit out rain with a laptop.

Skovbrynet 5 on the edge of Marselisborg forest: rides, a climbing park and the Hermans hall for concerts. Seasonal, with Halloween running 3-31 October 2026 and a Christmas season after it.
