ON A BUDGET
A student city with a beach, a deer park and a rainbow on the roof of its art museum.

The Latin Quarter
Cheap beds sit in and around the old centre; the larger hostel is out by Marselisborg forest, five minutes from the beach and twenty by bus from town.
What a day costs
DKK 450–800, roughly $65–115: dorm 180–350, food 150–250 using student canteens and bakeries, buses under 100 if you use them at all.
Midttrafik and the letbane
City buses and the light rail share one ticket system, and the compact centre rarely needs either. Bike hire is cheap and the seafront route is flat.
Free by day
The Botanical Garden, the deer park at Marselisborg where you can hand-feed the herd, Den Permanente beach and the Infinite Bridge in summer.
Godsbanen and Jægergårdsgade
The old freight yard turned culture house has cheap beer and constant events; Jægergårdsgade's small bars are where students and travellers overlap.
