Varoš and the old town
The stone lanes west of the palace hold most of the hostels, five minutes from both the ferry port and the fish market.
What a day costs
Reckon €40–70, roughly $45–80: dorm €18–32, burek, market fruit and a konoba lunch €12–20, buses and a beach €6–15.
Getting around cheap
Everything central is walkable; Promet buses reach Trogir and the airport, and Jadrolinija ferries leave from the quay beside the palace.
Free by day
Marjan hill's pine trails and the Kašjuni coves, the palace peristyle at night, and Bačvice beach with its shallow sandbar.
Where travellers meet
Bačvice is where hostels meet for picigin and cheap beers; the beach bars behind it run until the small hours in summer.
