An open-water race across Stari Grad bay each late summer, one of Europe's older swims, with shorter distances alongside the full course.

Charter boats work the Dalmatian islands from May to October; Hvar and Palmižana are standard overnight stops and regattas pass through all summer.

Half-day paddles from the Riva across to the islands, run by outfitters in town from May to September. Wind builds after lunch.

Hvar has no professional side. The Croatian league runs late July to May, and Hajduk's Poljud is a ferry hour away in Split.
