Calm bays a short boat ride out, one fortress climb, and a nightlife town to sleep away from.
Pakleni Islands boats
Taxi boats leave the Riva every twenty minutes for Palmižana and Jerolim — sheltered pebble coves, pine shade and lunch. Ten to twenty minutes each way.
Fortica fortress
A twenty-minute switchback climb above town to ramparts, cannon and a view over the Pakleni channel. Works from about age six.
Stari Grad Plain
Flat, ancient farmland gridded by stone walls — the one place on Hvar a family can actually cycle. Bike hire in Stari Grad.
Jelsa town beach
Shallow pebble bays with pine shade, a playground and pizza a minute away — the island's most workable base with small children.
Marble, boats and bedtime
Polished lanes are slippery and stroller-hostile; carriers win. Hvar Town's bars run past two, so families generally sleep in Jelsa or Stari Grad.
