Learn to surf at Playa Carmen
The sheltered corner by the crossroads is where the schools teach. Group lessons run twice a day and the board usually stays with you afterwards.
Horse riding on the beach
Late afternoon rides north along the sand towards Manzanillo. Book the day before; most stables are one-person operations.
Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo
North past Santa Teresa, two long beaches with far fewer people on them. Manzanillo is where the road effectively gives up.
