Supermarkets, a bakery and takeaway counters are clustered at the junction, and it is where self-caterers shop. Prices are visibly higher than in Cóbano, 10 km inland, where the full-size supermarket is.

The restaurant scene runs along a couple of kilometres of the main road — poke bowls and pizza at the beach-club end, sodas and taco counters set back from the sand. Walking it and reading the boards is genuinely the practical way to choose.

A casado at a soda — rice, beans, plantain, salad and a protein — typically runs ₡4,000–6,000, while the equivalent plate at a beach restaurant is two to three times that. Fresh fish is the one thing worth paying beach prices for.
