The country's most decorated club plays at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in Tibás, north of the centre, known as the Cueva. Fixtures and tickets are on the club's own site — note that saprissa.cr is not theirs and now serves betting content.

The national stadium stands at the western end of Parque La Sabana and hosts Costa Rica internationals and the biggest club fixtures. It is run by ICODER along with the rest of the park's sports facilities, so a match combines easily with an afternoon outside.

A smaller Primera División side playing at the Ernesto Rohrmoser Lahmann ground in Pavas, capacity around 3,000. Far easier to get into than a Saprissa fixture if you simply want to watch a league game.

The Liga Promérica runs as two short tournaments — an Apertura from around July to December and a Clausura from January to May — with ten clubs; UNAFUT publishes the fixtures and the table. Most weekends have a match in or beside San José.

The loop round La Sabana is the city's default running route and is busy from first light, with public pitches, courts and a track inside the same park. Free, flat, and considerably safer than running the streets.
