Monteverde has a village sports plaza and nothing above it. The closest Primera División side is Puntarenas FC on the coast, in the 2026 top flight with Saprissa, Alajuelense, Herediano and Cartaginés; UNAFUT, the league, publishes the fixtures.

Sky Adventures' Monteverde park runs zip lines strung mountain to mountain and Arboreal, a tree-climbing course with graded difficulty levels among the tallest trees on site, at between roughly 1,200 and 1,750 metres. Book online in advance; combination tickets with the tram and bridges are cheaper than buying separately.

A 143-metre bungee jump the park bills as the highest in Central America, a four-kilometre canopy line, a Tarzan swing and horseback rides, 700 metres west of the Catholic church at La Cruz de Abangares. This is the serious adrenaline end of Monteverde rather than the family end.

Two of the Monteverde Conservation League's four visitor stations sit well away from the tourist road and take a full day each rather than a morning. Reserve through the League, daily 07:00–19:00, and treat them as hikes rather than attractions.

The roads are steep, largely gravel and frequently inside a cloud, and the surface changes with the weather. The paved stretch through Santa Elena is the only dependable footing; anything else is a trail run whether you meant it to be or not.
