The Pacific billfish fleet works from here; sailfish peak December to April and tournaments run through those months. Weigh-ins are open on the dock.

A forgiving beach break with schools renting soft-tops by the hour; the bigger waves are an hour south at Dominical, where contests run in the dry season.

The nearest professional football is at the Estadio Lito Pérez, two hours north. Apertura runs August to December, Clausura January to May.

Pick-up football fills the Quepos municipal pitch most evenings and visitors are welcome; kayak and paddleboard hire runs from the estuary mouth.
