Formula One in spring, tennis in autumn and two football clubs sharing one restless city.
Chinese Grand Prix
Formula One returns to the Shanghai International Circuit at Jiading in spring, usually April. Grandstand and general admission tickets sit in very different bands.
Shanghai Port and Shenhua
Both Chinese Super League clubs play here, with a season running roughly late February to November. Pudong Football Stadium is the newer, steeper ground.
Shanghai Masters tennis
The men's tour plays a fortnight at Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in Minhang each October, under a roof shaped like a magnolia.
Running and table tennis
The Shanghai Marathon fills the Bund in late autumn and is ballot-entry. Any other day, community centres across the city rent table tennis by the hour.
