Hong Kong Disneyland
The smallest Disney park, out on Lantau and reachable by its own MTR line — which makes it the calmest for a first visit. Good from about age three.
Ocean Park
A hillside park at Aberdeen combining a large aquarium, giant pandas and proper roller coasters, linked by cable car. Spans ages four to teenage.
Ngong Ping 360
A twenty-five minute cable car across Lantau to the Big Buddha and its 268 steps. Crystal-floor cabins cost more; queues are worst at weekends.
Hong Kong Science Museum
Four floors of levers, pulleys and a giant ball-run machine in Tsim Sha Tsui, next door to the Space Museum. Aimed at ages five to twelve.
Humidity, lifts and beaches
May to September is punishing, so plan malls and museums for midday. MTR stations have lifts and child Octopus fares; Repulse Bay has calm, netted swimming.
