Yangshuo rock climbing
Hundreds of bolted limestone routes around Moon Hill and Baiyu, with guides and gear hire on West Street. Autumn and spring are the dry, cool seasons.
Tour of Guangxi
The province hosts a professional road-cycling stage race each October, with routes through the karst country and finishes that draw big roadside crowds.
Dragon boat races
Crews race on the Li and Taohua rivers around the Dragon Boat Festival in early summer, usually falling in June. Free to watch from the banks.
Kayaking and caving
Kayaks on the Yulong cost a fraction of the raft tours, and local operators run wet caving trips through the water caves near Yangshuo year round.
