Twelfth century Atacameno hill fort 3 km north of town, walkable or a short cycle. Open 09:00 to 18:00, cash only at the gate.

Two deep blue altiplano lakes at about 4,200 m, reached on a long day trip south. Go slowly: the altitude is felt straight away.

Rock carvings of llamas and shamans on the road north, usually paired with the Valle del Arcoiris. Early tours catch the best colour.
