Ojos del Caburgua
Turquoise pools and two short waterfalls half an hour from town, on boardwalks. Open 09:00 to 18:30, about 2,000 pesos, no swimming.
Santuario El Cani
Private reserve of araucaria forest 21 km east; 12 km round trip to the mirador, roughly four hours up. Book ahead, 100 visitors a day.
Rafting the Rio Trancura
Class III on the lower river, class IV on the upper, half a day either way with operators on O'Higgins. Wetsuits are provided.
Parque Cuevas Volcanicas
Lit lava tunnel 12 km up the volcano road, walked with a guide in about an hour, plus a short forest trail with a suspension bridge.
Playa Blanca, Lago Caburgua
White sand beach on Lake Caburgua, 25 km north, where the water is warmer than Villarrica. Small parking fee in summer.
