Held in January; the 2026 edition ran on 11 January with a 1,900 m swim in Lago Villarrica, a 90 km bike leg and a 21 km run finishing in town. The whole town fills for the week, so either enter or book around the dates.

The ski centre on the volcano's flank runs roughly July to October with more than 15 marked runs, and has been operating for over 50 years. Access is by a rough road where a 4x4 is recommended, or by agency transfer with rental gear included.

The bay off the town beach is usually flat in the morning and choppy by mid-afternoon when the wind comes up the lake, so paddle early. Boards and sit-on-top kayaks are hired by the hour along Playa Grande and at La Poza over the summer.

The rivers north and east of town are trout water and a large part of why anglers come to Araucanía at all. The Chilean sport-fishing season runs over the southern summer and a licence is required; guides, boats and gear are arranged in town rather than at the river.

Pucón has no professional side. The closest is Deportes Temuco, about 110 km away at the Estadio Bicentenario Germán Becker, playing in the second-tier Liga de Ascenso; the nearest top-flight football is in Concepción, roughly 400 km north.
