An 8km forest loop around the hill behind town, gently graded and signposted. Entry is about $1, the gate shuts at 4pm and you leave by 5.30pm.

Cafe on the national park loop selling smoothies and hanging hammocks under the trees. The obvious stopping point, and more or less the only one.

Half an hour by boat, roughly $25 return for a boat of up to eight. Bungalows run $8 to $25 if you stay, with generator power that stops at night.

Limestone caves near the Vietnamese border, with shrines inside and a collapsed roof letting daylight down. Half a day by tuk tuk from Kep.

Hillside pagoda above the coast road, looking back over the bay and the islands. Quiet on weekdays; leave a small donation on the way out.
