Estádio da Ressacada
Avaí play at the Ressacada, Figueirense at Orlando Scarpelli across town. The state championship runs January to April, the national league April to December.
Surf at Praia Mole
The east-coast beaches take clean swell from autumn through winter, and Brazilian tour events have long used Mole and Joaquina. Watching costs nothing.
Ironman Brasil
The full-distance triathlon has been staged on the island in late autumn for years, swimming off Jurerê and cycling the north-island roads.
Learn to surf or paddle
Schools at Barra da Lagoa run beginner lessons for a couple of hundred reais, and the lagoon itself is flat water for stand-up paddling.
