The town is cheap and the jungle is not: one three-day trip costs more than a fortnight of everything else you will spend here.

In town, very little: a set lunch in Beni department averaged Bs 13.46 in March 2026, the lowest of any Bolivian city surveyed, and there is nothing to pay to walk around. On tour you spend nothing further, because the package covers boat, guide, bed and food.
What a tour costs
Mashaquipe, one of the long-established local operators, publishes its rates: two days in the pampas from USD 245, two days in Madidi from USD 230 and four days from USD 435. Tours here are quoted in dollars, and that one number decides your whole budget for the week.
Eighteen hours or forty-five minutes
The bus from La Paz covers about 410km in roughly eighteen hours over the Yungas road; the flight takes 45 minutes to an hour. Cloud over the mountains regularly stops aircraft landing, so leave slack rather than booking a tight onward connection out of La Paz.
Book through an authorised agency
SERNAP, which administers Madidi, states that entry to the protected area has to be through authorised travel agencies, with the standard trip running three days and two nights of walking and boat travel. There is no cheaper independent way in, so look for savings in the operator, not the rules.
Community-run lodges
Several lodges are owned and staffed by the indigenous communities whose land you are visiting; Madidi Jungle Ecolodge, run by local families from an office on Avenida Comercio, is one, with three- and four-day programmes and native guides. They are not the cheapest beds and the money stays much closer to home.
