Bolívar and The Strongest both play home games at the municipal stadium in Miraflores, so there is top-flight football in the city most weekends of the season, and the clásico paceño when the fixture falls that way. Check the federation's calendar before planning a weekend around it.

Always Ready and ABB play in the same División Profesional at the Estadio Municipal de Villa Ingenio, several hundred metres higher again than the Hernando Siles. It is the altitude visiting sides complain about most, and the ground is a long way out across El Alto.

The fifteenth edition is set for 14 March 2027, with 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km races starting from different points across the city — the marathon from Avenida Landaeta. Entry is Bs 170 and includes insurance, chip, shirt and a medal.

On the first Sunday of September — 6 September in 2026 — motor traffic is banned across the municipality from 08:00 to 18:00 under a 2011 national law, and the whole city takes to bicycles and skates. Alcohol sales are normally suspended for the day as well.

The 6,088m peak a couple of hours north of the city is the standard two-day introduction to 6,000m climbing, with a high camp and a pre-dawn push on snow. It needs a guide, boots and crampons: this is mountaineering, not a hike, and the altitude does not forgive improvisation.
