Dorm beds run roughly 50–80 bolivianos and private rooms not much more. The things to check are hot water and blankets, because nights at 3,815m are cold and almost nothing in town is heated.

Three and a half to four hours, roughly 30–40 bolivianos with the tourist companies and less on a local micro. Everyone gets off at the Estrecho de Tiquina and crosses the strait on a passenger launch for a couple of bolivianos while the bus goes over on a barge — take your valuables with you.

Boats leave the beach in the morning and again in the early afternoon, take an hour and a half or more each way, and cost around 30 bolivianos a leg. The island communities charge their own small entrance fees in cash when you land.

There are only a couple of ATMs in town and they run dry at weekends and during festivals; almost nothing takes cards. Change money before you leave La Paz and keep small notes for boats, community fees and stalls.

Dorm 50–80 bolivianos, a market almuerzo 15–25, a trout plate 30–45, a large beer 15–20, an Isla del Sol return boat about 60 plus community fees. Around 150–200 bolivianos a day, with the bus in from La Paz another 30–40 on top.
