University Library tower

Arenberg Castle park
A 16th-century castle now used by the university, set in open parkland at Heverlee. Walkable or a short ride.
Botanical garden
Belgium's oldest botanical garden, founded in 1738 for the university's medical school. Free and rarely busy.
Vaartkom canal district
Old industrial docks north of the centre, now home to Het Depot, small breweries and waterside cafes.
