SPORT & SEASON
Two very different top-flight clubs share the city — Anderlecht at Lotto Park and Union Saint-Gilloise in a 9,400-seat ground inside a park — and the athletics meet at the Heysel is the fixture the whole country watches.

RSC Anderlecht at Lotto Park
Belgium's most-decorated club plays in the municipality of Anderlecht, west of the centre; the fixture list and ticket sales are on the club's own site and big matches go early.
Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at the Stade Joseph Marien
Union have played in this 9,400-capacity ground inside Duden Park in Forest since 1919, and it hosted football at the 1920 Olympics. Capacity that small means league tickets sell out, so buy as soon as they are released.
Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Belgium's Diamond League athletics meeting, held at the King Baudouin Stadium on the Heysel plateau, Avenue de Marathon 135. The 50th edition ran across two days, 4–5 September 2026.
20 km de Bruxelles
A 20 km road race through the city's parks and monuments on a Sunday at the end of May; the 2026 edition drew 47,253 runners of 141 nationalities. The 47th edition is set for 30 May 2027, with registration opening early that year.
Sonian Forest
The beech forest on the city's south-eastern edge, part of it UNESCO World Heritage, with a signed cycling and mountain-bike network running from 13 km loops up to 118 km, including a 60 km ring around Brussels. Free to use; the managing foundation publishes the route maps.
