WITH KIDS
Flamingos, a walkable beach and an aquarium — with cruise-ship crowds to plan around.
Turquoise water off Nassau
Ardastra Gardens
A small zoo and garden whose marching flamingos perform a few times daily; lories can be hand-fed. An easy two hours. Ages 2 and up.
Junkanoo Beach
Shallow, calm and within walking distance of downtown, with shade, chair hire and food shacks. Busy when ships are in. Any age.
Atlantis Aquaventure
Water slides, a river ride and a large aquarium built into the resort's ruins theme. Day passes are expensive and limited. Ages 4 and up.
Blue Lagoon Island
A half-hour boat ride to a private cay with a roped, glass-flat lagoon and hammocks. Book the beach day, not the animal encounters. Ages 4 and up.
Plan around the ships
Four ships in port make Bay Street impassable with a pushchair. Go out early, or take a jitney to Cable Beach. Groceries cost more than at home.
