The pigs live on an uninhabited cay near Staniel Cay, accessible only by boat. Exuma Water Sports runs a four-hour trip from Barraterre Bonefish Lodge at $199 a head, and an eight-hour version at $435 that adds the nurse sharks at Compass Cay, Thunderball Grotto and lunch at Staniel Cay. Bring fruit or bought pig feed and use the trough rather than hand-feeding in the water.

Snorkelling cave just west of Staniel Cay, named for the Bond film shot in it. You swim in through the openings at low tide, which is when the currents allow it — in practice it is a stop on a Staniel Cay day boat rather than somewhere you reach on your own.

The longest beach on Little Exuma, sitting on the line of the Tropic of Cancer and reachable by road down the Queen's Highway rather than by boat — which makes it the one major Exuma beach you can drive to. Free, and the drive down is half the reason to go.

The barrier island across Elizabeth Harbour from George Town, a short water taxi ride away, with beaches and small resorts on the far side and stingrays and starfish in the shallows. The easy half-day if you are not chartering a boat for the cays.

A marine reserve covering nearly 130,000 acres of cays, reefs and clear water in the northern Exuma Cays, managed by the Bahamas National Trust. You reach it by charter or as part of a multi-day island-hopping itinerary; the Exumas tourist office on 242-336-2457 can point you at operators.
