FIESTA SIDE
Exuma does not have a night out so much as one place per evening: a beach bar that runs until the last table leaves, a Sunday pig roast on Stocking Island, or whichever hotel bar in George Town has music on.
Crystal-clear shallows in Exuma
Chat 'N' Chill
Beach bar on Stocking Island, reached by a short water taxi from George Town. Conch salad cut in front of you, Kalik, Goombay Smashes and Bahamian barbecue. The Sunday pig roast runs from noon to 7pm or until it runs out, $22 a head with live music. Walk-ins fine; book for large groups.
Peace & Plenty
Hotel in the middle of George Town overlooking Elizabeth Harbour, with the Flagler Room bar and its live piano, Doc's Patio Bar out in the open air, and Copia for sushi and dinner. There is a Thursday night barbecue; ring 242-336-2551 to check what is on before you make the trip.
Staniel Cay Yacht Club
The bar and restaurant up in the Exuma Cays, reached by boat or charter flight rather than by road. It is where the Pig Beach and Thunderball day boats stop for lunch and where the crews and cruisers drink afterwards — an evening here means staying the night on Staniel Cay.
Frankie Bananas at Augusta Bay
Beach bar at Augusta Bay, on Queen's Highway at Mile Marker 12 just outside George Town, with the Nat'ral Beauty restaurant on the same waterfront. It bills itself as the first stop off the water, which is roughly how the evening works here.
23° North Beach Club, Grand Isle Resort
Pool, bar and restaurant at Grand Isle Resort on Emerald Bay at Rokers Point, north of George Town, along with the Palapa and Sandy Toes outlets. The dressier end of an Exuma night; call 844-368-2738 to check access and hours if you are not staying there.
