Water you can stand up in for a hundred metres, and boat days that are longer than they look.
Tropic of Cancer Beach
A long curve of white sand on Little Exuma with almost no swell and a shallow shelf; no facilities, so bring shade and water. Any age.
Stocking Island
A short ferry from George Town to a sandbar where southern stingrays cruise the shallows and there is food and shade ashore. Ages 3 and up.
Swimming pigs
Boat tours run north to Big Major Cay, where feral pigs swim out to the boats. They bite โ keep small children aboard. Ages 6 and up.
Thunderball Grotto
A snorkel-through limestone cave at Staniel Cay, entered at slack tide; the current outside is strong. Part of the long Exuma Cays day trip. Ages 8 and up.
Boat days are long
The cays tour is eight hours with open-water crossings that get rough by afternoon. There is a clinic, one supermarket and no chemist worth the name.
