Guesthouses and rooms in and around George Town on Great Exuma; there are no hostels, so a shared room or a cottage inland is the cheap option.
What a day costs
Everything arrives by boat. Room $80–150, food $35–60, transport $10–70 depending on whether you hire a car. Reckon $110–200 a day.
Getting around cheap
The overnight mailboat from Nassau costs a fraction of the flight. On island, hitching along the Queen's Highway is normal and shared taxis meet the ferry.
Free by day
Tropic of Cancer Beach on Little Exuma, the sandbars that surface at low tide, and the salt-white shallows either side of the causeway bridges.
Chat 'N' Chill
A ten-minute ferry to Stocking Island lands at a sand-floor bar where the cruising fleet, backpackers and stingrays all congregate through the afternoon.
